Douglas County Youth Innovation Center

Our holistic, and effective approach to treatment incorporates compassion, assertiveness, mindfulness, and play. Implementation is led by a skilled staff of master level clinicians and practitioners.

We believe that a combination of modern and traditional therapeutic practices are the best ways to reach these goals. Next Up integrates relational and behavioral therapies, along with holistic, medical and psychiatric interventions to help clients reach their behavioral and emotional health while promoting well-being.

We offer a variety of modalities. Our thoughtful approach to care ensures that the treatment plan is as unique as the individual themselves and is customized to meet their needs. We assist clients in developing healthy coping skills and learning to respond, vs. react when they or their loved ones lack self control, feel triggered, angry or threatened. Clients learn to be of service to others, and begin to learn their self-worth!

Often youth participants present with emotional, behavioral, social, and mental health challenges that require special care, treatment and worker sensitivity. It is essential that the Douglas County Community Services Board workforce be trauma-informed to address the multiple challenges serving youth participant and families who have been exposed to trauma. The Douglas County Community Services Board and its partners must identify trauma exposure and make every effort to prevent re-traumatization by promoting healing relationships and environments through embracing the “key” trauma-informed principles of respect, safety, trust, collaboration, choice and empowerment. In addition, we should use evidence-based trauma-specific services and treatments for recovery pathways.
